The Steed is back from the powdercoaters and is now RED. As with most ongoing projects, the Steed is far from finished and will receive numerous bike p0rn finishing touches. No, the Steed hasn’t 29′ wheels, it’s a itsy-bitsy 41cm frame that’s just dandy for a short arse like me.
Unfortunately the fleeting dalliance with barend shifters and Salsa cyclo-cross levers hasn’t worked out and I will probably commit a serious crime against nature by utilising integrated flat bar shifters with bull horns.
Oh, the sheer perversity!

That’s a funky bike!

I don’t think it has enough red on it…

Well if it’s any recompense I touched up my flowing locks last night (ie: red) Maybe I should lash out & get a new skid lid to match?
It’s absolutely super. You mentioned about the bar end shifters not working out. Were they too inaccessible for practical usage?
By the way, the Giro is just coming into its final week so you can still catch it for the most important parts. The last couple of stages have been great but it’s a rest day tomorrow (Monday). De Luca has looked pretty fantastic so far but it’ll be interesting to see if someone else can hit form in the final week and steal the race from him. The likely suspects (With the exception of Savoldelli) aren’t hugely far behind him.
Just on the subject of cycle racing, it’s been pretty big news about the ex-Telekomriders admittance to drug taking. It’s hardly surprising to hear they did do such things but their admission is still big news. No word from ‘The Kaiser‘ as yet either way.

Yeah you’re on the mark about the setup, being short of leg & having upper back probs causes issues, so it’s back to a comfy configuration that suits me.
Well, there’s cycling.tv so I’ve really got no excuse to simply read CN or Pez news reviews.
With the doping subject I’ve come to a pragmatic attitude of observing the sport and look for new up & comers over barracking for established cyclists.
Where’d you get the coating done, chook?
Looks cool. Too many gears though
Pity because the levers stick up in a jaunty, insoucient kind of way. Much better than mine, where they point backwards. But I like the position. We should swap bodies for about a millisecond. I have v. long legs and a v. short body and they don’t make bicycles for overly verbal people who look like ladybirds.
Seriously, the non-standard body thing is a pain in the back.

Alex: Powdercoating done at Bell Powder Coating in Preston, they’re also done another Felt frame that I’m going to build up as a commuter/daily driver.
David: ‘Tis difficult being 155cm in height and therefore having limbs that barely touch the ground. Just finishing the tape wrap on a newer pair of bullhorns + 7 sp integrated shifters. Took the steed for a quick hoon down the ROW (no helmet and all, stop lawbreaker!) Feels great, after almost 2-3 years of frigging around I think I’ve finally got a road bike with a setup that suits me. Huzzah!
At least you’ve got legs!
Cripes, better post something soon. Been doing important things - such as cleaning up the home office. Life is certainly a lot easier right now because of that.

That bike is pure horniness, it makes me happy in my pants

P.S. What type of reflective tape is that on the rims? Its a great idea, hopefully the morons cant miss seeing you now.
cfsmtb wrote @ August 3rd, 2007 at 2:06 pm
The reflective stuff is ‘Sidelights’, it’s actually a milled metal surface and not just a sticker. Not sure where you can get this stuff now, as Abbotsford Cycles had boxes of them a few years ago. Either contact the shop (nb: they shut for a month from Aug 8 due to them going to the Audax PBP) or have a lookie around flea bay. Or I’ll have a search around the premises for a spare sheet or two if you really want them.

Phoned and ordered, thanks muchly

Have you continued your pursuit of bar end shifter and cross levers on this feline beauty?
ChrisS wrote @ August 29th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Not, sadly. I have committed a grave crime against nature and am currently running integrated v-brake shifters with bullhorns. Cheaparse & do the job, but not for much longer. Hopefully
